Golf Irons
In golf, irons are used mainly for fairway play. These
clubs are designed to provide varying degrees of lift without the use
of a tee. Irons are numbered, with higher numbers indicating a higher
lift capability.
Golf irons are called such because the club heads have traditionally
been made of iron or steel. The shafts are for most irons are between
36-40 inches in length for men’s play. However, this number can
vary depending on the golfer.
The average golfer has between 12-14 clubs in his or her bag during
the course of play, and the majority of these are golf irons. This is
because the majority of swings will be with an iron of some kind. Having
a variety of irons is the best way to ensure you have the tools you
need for any situation.
